A Sustainable Building Masterpiece

Carolyn and John Parnham envisioned a forever home that seamlessly blends natural beauty with modern design, and they entrusted JKK Constructions to bring it to life. Positioned on prime lakefront land in Fairhaven, their home reflects meticulous design and thoughtful craftsmanship.

The Parnhams' vision included a main residence and a separate studio for visiting family, connected by a spacious deck. This design ensures privacy while providing a central space for gatherings and meals. The deck, with its deep steps, serves as a perfect platform to enjoy stunning sunsets over Wallaga Lake. It was essential to harmonise the landscaping with the home, achieving a seamless integration between the built environment and nature.

A key focus of the project was sustainable building. Recycled and reclaimed hardwoods were used throughout, both inside and out, showcasing the Parnhams' love for timber while emphasising sustainability. Internally, birch ply feature walls and stone elements create striking contrasts, while externally, concrete garden beds and stone-clad walls add texture and depth. Copper wall sconces highlight the unique character of the reclaimed hardwood, blending rustic charm with architectural sophistication.

The Parnhams plan to enhance the property with native grasses and flowering shrubs, softening the lines of timber sleepers and concrete features. This thoughtful integration of architecture and landscaping ensures their home is not only a place of beauty but also a model of sustainable building that connects harmoniously with nature.

JJK Constructions entered this stunning build into the HIA 2024 Custom Home Awards ($900,000–$1.1 million category) and were thrilled to receive a Highly Commended Award!
