Balamara Renovation

Nestled in the bushland on the outskirts of Bermagui, the Balamara home boasts breathtaking views of the coastline, from Camel Rock to Montague Island. Originally built in the 1970s as a sturdy brick home with small, compartmentalized rooms, it was ready for a transformation. The new owners entrusted JJK Constructions Co with a complete custom renovation, giving us full creative freedom to combine our design expertise and construction skill to reimagine the space.

Our first priority was to open up the living and kitchen areas, seamlessly extending them to an expansive hardwood entertaining deck. This addition not only enhanced the home's functionality but also brought in an abundance of natural light, creating a solar-passive environment perfect for coastal living.

A standout feature is the custom-built concrete plinth housing a Cheminee Philippe fireplace, paired with timber storage below, offering both practicality and a stunning visual centrepiece. We completely overhauled the bathrooms, incorporating warm tones, mixed textures, and soft lighting for a luxurious yet calming atmosphere

Throughout the renovation, we emphasized sustainability by integrating reclaimed timber and stonework, paying homage to the surrounding natural environment. The home’s exterior was transformed with woodland grey paint, gabion walls, and timber cladding, blending harmoniously with the bushland backdrop.
